where your two dollars can help send a box of brand new
children's books to 138 family homeless shelters throughout Massachusetts
In addition to balancing college and a career, I volunteer weekly at a homeless shelter in central Massachusetts through a wonderful volunteer program. I’ve witnessed the effect first-hand that books have on children and families living in less than ideal circumstances. Children's books not only serve as a function of education, but offer healthy bonding time between the children and their guardians, often a welcomed distraction from the stress of their daily lives.
After $75,000 worth of 'webspot' purchases  on this website have been made I will send a box of brand new children's books to 138 homeless shelters across Massachusetts.  This system allows the power to promote change to transcend the confines of demographics.  I hope to prove how far a small amount of money can go as well as encourage others to think of ways they can support issues they are passionate about.  Because we are entering the holiday season, I wanted to keep the webspot price at $2 as to not interfere with other charitable giving that takes place during this time of year.

Book drive for homeless children
"If one is lucky, a solitary fantasy can totally transform a million realities." -Maya Angelou

The goal of this drive goes far beyond the pages of the books. It's important to me to give these children something to call their own, something that they don't have to share, borrow, or return. This may not seem significant through the eyes of those accustomed to it, but claiming a possession in a world of communal space can be a ray of hope in the lives of children experiencing homelessness.
